Privacy notice

Privacy is central to reproductive healthcare. This notice explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you use this website or contact us.

Last updated 19 October 2026.

Who is responsible for your information

MedStar Women's Clinic is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. For any question about your information, contact us at prowomens@gmail.com.

What this website collects

We designed this website to collect as little as possible.

  • No advertising or tracking cookies. The website does not set cookies to follow you around the internet or build a profile of you.
  • No third-party embeds. Fonts are served from our own website, and we link to maps rather than embedding them, so other companies are not told which pages you read.
  • No enquiry storage. The enquiry form runs in your browser. It prepares a message and opens WhatsApp or your email app. Nothing you type into the form is transmitted to or stored on this website.
  • Anonymous visit counts. So that we can see whether the website is useful, we count page views without cookies and without storing anything on your device. We keep daily totals only (for example, how many times a page was viewed and whether visitors arrived from a search engine). Your IP address is not saved. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, your visit is not counted at all.
  • Server logs. Like almost every website, the company that hosts this site keeps technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and troubleshooting, and deletes them after a limited period.

When you contact us

If you send us a WhatsApp message, call us or email us, we receive the information you choose to give: for example your phone number or email address, the name you use, and what you tell us.

We use that information only to respond to you and, if you become a patient, to provide and record your care.

  • WhatsApp is operated by Meta. Messages are subject to WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy, and your message history remains on your phone until you delete it.
  • Email passes through your email provider and ours.
  • Phone calls appear in your call log.

If any of these could put your privacy at risk, tell us how you would prefer to be contacted.

Health information

Under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), information about your health is “special personal information” and may only be processed in limited circumstances. We ask that you do not send medical details through general enquiry channels; a clinician will ask for what they need during your consultation.

In addition, the Choice on Termination of Pregnancy Act provides that the identity of a woman who has requested or obtained a termination of pregnancy must remain confidential unless she herself chooses to disclose it.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

We share information only where it is needed to provide your care, where you have agreed to it, or where the law requires it.

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as we need it to respond to you and to meet our legal and clinical record-keeping obligations.

Your rights

POPIA gives you rights over your personal information, including the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and to request a copy of it
  • ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, out of date or no longer needed
  • object to the processing of your information in certain circumstances
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at prowomens@gmail.com.

Keeping your visit to this website private

  • Use the “Quick exit” button at the top of any page to leave the site immediately.
  • Quick exit does not clear your browser history. Use a private or incognito window if others use your device.
  • Delete messages and call logs if you need to.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
